Measuring 37 1/2 inches overall with a 32 inch curved "quillback" style blade, bearing the Eickhorn "double squirrel" on the left ricasso, vine etching on the rounded spine, martial themed etching on both sides of the blade and "Gewidment v.d. ausscheidendem Jahrgang 1897-99." on the right. Gilt brass hilt, with an Imperial eagle on the pierced-through guard, scroll and oak leaf engraving, leather portapee with golden acorn and a flat-topped Phrygian pommel. With a black enamel finished single ring steel scabbard.

Very good. The blade shows mild flaking and bubbling of the nickel with original gilt finish concentrated in the lower areas of the guard. The suspension clip has been detached from the rear of the scabbard and the portapee shows notably cracks and fraying.
