This is a WWI DWM Artillery Luger manufactured in 1917. The pistol has the distinctive 8 inch barrel with tangent rear sight and stock lug on the grip strap. The rear sight features a nine position adjustments graduated to 800 meters with the fine tune front and rear adjustment screws. The front toggle link is marked with the DWM script monogram and the chamber is dated 1915. It has the standard serial number placement with the full serial number on the front of the frame, underside of the barrel, left side of the barrel extension. It has the last two digits of the serial number (45) marked on the small components. The safety and extractor are marked "GESICHERT" and "GELADEN". The grips are finely checkered walnut. It is stamped with the standard inspection and firing acceptance proofs. The pistol has a military blue finish with straw colored locking bolt, safety lever, trigger, ejector and magazine release. The magazine body is cleaned with no finish with the wooden base marked "GERMANY".

Rating Definition:

Very good with 50% of the faded, thin blue finish overall with even wear on all the metal surfaces with the grip straps having turned a blue gray patina. A copper bead has been applied to the front sight. The grips are in good plus condition with visible checkering on both sides and even wear across the tops of the checkering mixed with some minor handling marks. The original front sight has been replaced with a small commercial bead sight. A very good mid-WWI German Artillery Luger with moderate use and wear.
