Manufactured in the Tokyo Artillery Arsenal circa 1903-1906, this pistol is listed by number in Appendix F of Derby & Brown's "Japanese Military Cartridge Handguns 1893-1945", where it is noted as having been "modified for Papa magazine"; the provenance of the alteration is not provided, but the pistol is indeed equipped with a Papa Nambu magazine in place of the earlier, more fragile Grandpa model. Fixed blade front and tangent rear sights with the Arsenal markings on top of the chamber, front strap grip safety, checkered hardwood grips and a well fitting aluminum base Papa Nambu magazine.

Good as arsenal refinished showing 95% of the current rust blue with some mild sub-surface pitting. The grips are very good, slightly undersized, with some light chipping and sharp checkering. Mechanically fair. Consecutively serial numbered with LOT 850.
