Description:

Measuring 33 1/4 inches overall, the 23 3/4 inch blade shows a wavy hamon, fine grain, and is fitted in a gilt copper habaki with streaked designs. The square iron tsuba is decorated with a textured outer edge and a number of untranslated symbols and is fitted with a single brass seppa on each side. The fuchi and kashira are decorated with scenes of a blackened bull in a field of golden flowers. The mekugi showing gold accented wild horses, and a brown cord wrap over white rayskin. With a brown lacquer finished saya decorated with flowers on the kojiri. Tang is unsigned but is cut off square just behind a second mekugi-ana and shows blade geometry through the length.

Rating Definition:

Good. Some small patches of pitting are visible on the blade with tiny chipping concentrated near the tip, a few spots of open grain concentrated on the left side, and mild handling marks overall. The front seam of the habaki is starting to open at the bottom. A fine aged patina is on the tsuba, mild staining of the wrap, and some play in the kashira. Saya is fair with some flaking and scuffs.
