Description:

Operating out of San Francisco, Will & Finck manufactured a wide variety of knives and gambling equipment, and are associated with the California Gold Rush. 14 3/4 inches overall with a 9 5/8 inch blade, 2 1/2 inch sharpened false edge, and the "WILL & FINCK/SF. CAL." address on the left side of the blade. A pewter ferrule is installed at the base of the blade with a contoured one piece tan stag horn grip, and a green dyed snakeskin wrapped sheath fitted with a decorative copper disc on the mouth and an integral belt hanger.

Rating Definition:

Good. Mild pitting and sharpening is visible on the blade which shows a gently aged steel patina overall and a few dings on the spine and ferrule. The grip is very good with a few scuffs and stains. The sheath is good with some cracking and scuffs. While skinning knives like these were produced in very large quantities to meet the demand of western meat and pelt hunters, they were typically used, abused and discarded leaving few good condition examples for the modern collectors market.
