Description:

Measuring 14 1/2 inches overall, the 9 inch blade is fitted with a 3 3/4 inch back clip, decorative etching on the left side, and the markings "FAITH" and "CHARLES/LINGARD/SHEFFIELD" on the left ricasso. The etching features scroll designs, the motto "WE ASK FOR NOTHING BUT WHAT/IS/RIGHT/AND SUBMIT TO NOTHING THAT IS WRONG" (a motto adopted by supporters of the pre-Civil War Southern cause, quoted on the record by Southern senators arguing in favor of slavery in America's frontier states), and a caricature of the American eagle with a money bag labeled "10,000" in its beak and "DRAW ME NOT IN HASTE" on the banner. The guard and hilt are both pewter construction with cast interwoven scroll designs on the guard and a floral/leaf pattern on the contoured grip. With a tooled red leather sheath with German silver throat and tip.

Rating Definition:

Very good plus. The fine blade is in bright polish overall with scattered patches of deep pitting and light handling marks overall. The hilt and guard are very good with some light cracks in the hilt near the top and a few light handling marks. The sheath is good with tearing at the seams and scuffing.
