Description:

Measuring 12 1/4 inches overall. The left ricasso of the 7 inch blade has a makers mark of "HENRY E(?????)/SHEFFIELD", a 2 1/2 inch back clip and scroll etching on the left side. Among the etching is a heraldic shield topped with an unidentified crown and bearing a design of a globe girded with crossed belts set into a ring of stars on a striped background; consignor notes state this is a family crest but does not identify the family. The guard is nickel silver with a contoured "S" pattern set atop a thin silver ferrule. The grip is relief carved from a single piece of antique ivory with a "vase" profile overall and raised carved fleur-de-lis accents at the top and bottom. With a red leatherette sheath fitted with a German silver throat and tip.

Rating Definition:

Good as lightly cleaned with some minor spotting on the heavily polished blade. The etching is faded but visible, and some polishing marks are present on the ricasso. The grip is good with a few thin cracks near the ferrule and on the carving, fine color, and an attractive grain. Sheath is fair with some cuts and tears on the leather.
