Description:

This is a late production New Model 1863 Carbine made without a patch box and is fitted with a sling bar and ring, Lawrence patent folding rear sight graduated to 800 yards, German silver blade front sight, a walnut stock and forearm, and curved buttplate. The top of the barrel is marked with the three-line address ahead of the rear sight and "NEW MODEL 1863" behind it. The left rear flat and saddle ring bare base are marked with "E.P.R" inspector marks. It has the standard Sharps and Lawrence patent markings.

Rating Definition:

Good. The metal surfaces have mostly been cleaned to bright with some areas of light pitting or spotting and some golden oil residue. The stock is good as sanded and reoiled with some minor wear including what may have been a burn mark on the left side of the stock. The action is excellent, and the markings are mostly clear.
