Description:

Several variations of the My Friend revolver were produced by James Reid from the late 1860s until the 1880s. This example was manufactured near the end of that range and has a nickel plated iron frame with scroll and punch dot engraving designs, the patent marking on the left side of the top strap (year faint), and no safety device. Approximately 170 were manufactured with iron frames and most of those are believed to have been blued.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. 90% plus of the untouched nickel plating remains with a muted appearance, a gray patina on the balance, and some slight pitting. The action is fine, and the engraving is crisp.
