Description:

Factory cased Colt Model 1855 Model Sidehammer Pocket Revolver and accessories manufactured in 1866. The .31 caliber Model 6 revolver has a 3-1/2 inch round barrel, octagon barrel roll-stamped: "ADDRESS COL. COLT/NEW YORK U.S.A." in two lines, round, five-shot cylinder roll-stamped with the stagecoach holdup scene; and round, Navy style loading lever and latch catch. The serial number "10076" is stamped on the underside of the barrel, the side of the cylinder and the butt. All of the visible serial numbers match. "31 CAL" is stamped vertically on the right side of the frame behind the recoil shield. The revolver has the Colt high polish blue finish on the barrel, frame and cylinder. The loading lever, hammer and cylinder pin are color casehardened. The spur trigger is niter blue. The revolver has a one-piece varnished walnut grip with high polish piano finish. The revolver is complete with a Colt American style, mahogany case with purple velvet lining and five compartments. The case contains: (1) a blued, bow-leg, double cavity bullet mold with "COLT'S/PATENT/B" stamped on the sprue cutter, (2) a Pocket Model, fixed charger powder flask embossed on both sides of the brown lacquer body with the Eagle and Shield motif surmounted by nine stars in two lines and crossed resolvers and "E. PLURIBUS UNUM" on a ribbon below the eagle (3) niter blue, L-shaped, combination screwdriver/nipple wrench, (4) 250 count tin of Eley Bros. percussion caps with green paper label and (5) straight blade screw-driver with wooden handle.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The revolver is all original and retains more than 85% of the high polish blue finish. Wear is limited to high points and scattered handling marks. The cylinder scene is light but fully visible. The loading lever and hammer retains most of the fiery case colors. The cylinder pin shows some edge wear. The walnut grip is in excellent condition with some varnish flaking on the lower edges and butt. The case is in very fine overall condition. The exterior is worn with numerous shallow dents and scratches. The lining on the case bottom has stains and compression marks from contact with the revolver cylinder, muzzle and the bullet mold. The cap tin has been opened but retains some caps and has an excellent paper label. The bullet mold retains most of the military blue finish but has numerous dents and scratches on the right block and handle. The powder flask is in excellent condition: nearly all of the brown lacquer and gold plated finish remains. Both the L-shaped screw-driver/nipple wrench and wooden handle screw-driver are all in very fine condition. This is a very fine example of a factory cased Colt 1855 Model 6 Sidehammer Pocket revolver.
