Description:

This Model 1862 Police revolver has the one line "NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA" address on the top of the barrel, and the left side of the frame has "COLT/PATENT". The trigger guard is marked "36 CAL" on left side rear shoulder with a "P" towards the front. The cylinder has the patent date in one of the flutes. All of the serial numbers are matching. By current estimates, this revolver was produced c. 1863 but the serial number ranges for the Model 1862 Police and Pocket Model of Navy Caliber are being revised due to new discoveries which suggest that fewer of each model were produced than originally supposed and each had its own serial range.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The barrel retains 60% plus of the original blue finish and 40% remains on the cylinder primarily in the flutes with some minor pitting on the front face. 25% of the mostly faded case colors are visible with primarily a gray patina. The grip straps and trigger guard retains 40% of the original silver plating with an aged patina on the exposed brass. The grip is near fine with most of the varnish remaining, a number of minor scratches and dings, and some pin sized holes on the butt and on each side at the top. Mechanically excellent with legible markings.
