This Root revolver was manufactured in 1855 and has the serial number "799" stamped on the butt.. It has the standard brass pin front and notch rear sights, "COLT'S PT./1855" and "ADDRESS COL. COLT/HARTFORD CT. U.S.A." on top of the barrel divided by Maltese crosses and the pointing hand motif, "cabin and Indian" cylinder scene, a smooth one-piece grip and the matching serial number on the barrel, cylinder and butt.

Fine. The revolver retains 30% plus of the original blue finish with a brown patina on the balance, some vice marks, and small nicks and scratches. The grip is also fine with lower edge wear and light scratches. The cylinder does not always rotate when the hammer is cocked but it is otherwise functional. Aside from the faint cylinder markings, the markings are clear.
