Description:

This Model 1860 was manufactured in 1863 and is marked with the one line New York address on the top of the barrel, "COLTS/PATENT" on the left side of the frame, the Navy battle scene on the cylinder, and the full matching serial number on the barrel, frame, trigger guard, and butt along with the partial serial number on the cylinder, wedge (the "3" is backwards), cylinder pin, and grip. The grip has faint cartouches and is stamped "112-1862" on the left side of the butt. A few single letter inspection marks are found on several components. It is cut for a shoulder stock, has a one piece walnut grip, and the standard blade and hammer notch sights.

Rating Definition:

Good. The revolver features a mottle gray patina with patches of minor pitting and oxidation mixed throughout along with hammering type marring on the barrel at the breech and some small nicks. The cylinder scene is 70% clear with sharp inspectors marks. The sanded and re-oiled grip is very good with some small chips, light scratches, and minor dings. Mechanically functions intermittently with some minor attention needed; the cylinder does not consistently rotate when the hammer is cocked. Overall, the markings, aside from the cartouches, are lightly visible.
