This Colt Model 1849 Pocket revolver was manufactured in 1857 and is marked with the two line New York address on the barrel, the "COLTS/PATENT" marking on the left side of the frame, a small "2" on the lower left rear of the barrel assembly, and the matching serial number on the loading lever (partial), barrel, frame, trigger guard, butt, cylinder, cylinder pin (partial), wedge (partial), and grip (only 19 visible). The cylinder has the stagecoach hold up scene and it is fitted with a varnished walnut grip.

Fair as partially refinished. The refinished silver plating on the trigger guard and grip straps displays an aged patina. The barrel retains traces of the original blue finish, and, otherwise, the revolver displays a mottled brown patina with some small patches of minor pitting and various minor marks. The grip is very good with nearly all of the glossy varnish, a few small chips on the lower edges, and otherwise only some minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent with clear markings including a very nice cylinder roll scene.

This example of a Colt Model 1849 Pocket revolver manufactured in 1869 is marked with "ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA" on the top of the barrel, "COLTS/PATENT" on the right side of the frame, "31 CAL" on the left side rear of the trigger guard, and the matching serial number on the barrel lug, frame, trigger guard, grip, cylinder, cylinder pin, and grip (latter three partial). The wedge is mismatched, and the loading lever is not marked. The five-shot cylinder is roll-stamped with the stagecoach holdup scene. It is fitted with a varnished walnut grip.

Fine. 40% of the original blue finish on the barrel and 30% case colors remain along with significant silver plating in the protected areas under the grip. The remaining surfaces display a mottled gray-brown patina with some light oxidation and faint pitting. There is a small nick/chip on the left edge of the barrel. All of the markings remain clear including the cylinder scene. The grip is fine with some minor dings and wear along the lower edge. Mechanically excellent.
