Manufactured in the 1870s, this revolver is marked "HOPKINS & ALLEN MFG. Co. / XL. No 3. N.Y. / PAT. MAR 28. 1871" on the top strap and has round blade front and frame notch rear sights. The matching serial number is marked on the left side of the grip straps along with two stars, on the underside of the barrel, on the cylinder pin, on the front face of the cylinder, and on the right grip panel. It is fitted with varnished walnut grips and includes an original red box with a white lid label marked in black "X. L. Revolver, No. 3. 32-100 Cal." across the top and with an image of the revolver in the center. The lid is also ink stamped with "[?.?.] Gardner".

Excellent. The revolver retains 95% original finish with some flaking and mild spots pitting present along with spotting on the cylinder. The grips are excellent retaining almost all of the original varnish with a few minor dings and handling marks. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is excellent. The box is fine with a glue repaired edge on the lid, some moderate corner and edge wear, and some staining on the bottom.
