Description:

This revolver was manufactured between 1861 and 1863 by the Moore's Patent Firearms Co. of Brooklyn, New York, before the firm lost an infringement suit brought by Smith & Wesson. The top barrel flat is roll stamped with the desirable marking: "MANF'D FOR SMITH & WESSON BY MOORE'S PATENT FIREARMS CO." The six-shot cylinder is marked: "PATENTED APRIL 3. 1855 & SEPT.18.1860". The serial number is located on the bottom of the barrel lug just ahead of the frame. The revolver barrel and cylinder pivot to the right for re-loading and a removable ejector rod is mounted beneath the barrel. The revolver has a nickel plated finish and features scroll and geometric engraving on the frame, trigger guard, and back strap. It is fitted with a varnished walnut grip. The barrel is fitted with a cone front sight, and the hammer has a Colt style rear sight notch.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The revolver retains 75% of the period nickel plating with some flaking and spotting. The engraving and markings remain legible. The grip is fine with half of the varnish, scattered scratches and scrapes. Mechanically excellent.
