Description:

This pistol is marked "B & Cie/A Stetienne" on the left side of the action with light flourishes around the screw, and a scroll/leaf engraving pattern on the right side. The barrel has golden bands at the breech, a proof mark and circled "27" stamp on the upper left flat, and a brass post front sight on an affixed extension. The underside of the barrel extension and barrel are marked "7". The rear sight is a notched insert in a groove on the frame at the breech. The hammer has a low, straight profile with a small spur. The burled walnut grip has a flared butt with a plain buttplate and an insert on the rear into which the shoulder stock locks. The shoulder stock appears to be a replacement as when attached the sights cannot align with the user's eyes. The stock has a flat steel buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Fair as modified. The finish on the barrel has mostly faded to a gray tone with some light marks and minor pitting. The rear section has brown finish and about half of the golden finish. The underside of the barrel has a darker section of filled dovetailed area with weld. The rest of the metal surfaces remain mostly bright with some small nicks, spots of light pitting, and crisp markings and engraving. The trigger guard has a groove cut through the coordinating engraving patterns. The grip is good as repaired with some chips and scrapes. The refinished stock is also good with some light pressure marks and light scratches.
