Description:

This is a Regency era Lancer officer's foul weather cap. This cap has a relatively smooth black exterior of either oilskin, oiled silk or patent leather. The mortar board top has ribbed sides with a large false plume boss and a chin chain hook on the right corner. Both sides have six blackened false buttons. There are two lion's head ear bosses suspending an unbacked gilt chin chain. The sweat band is natural leather and there is a red silk lining. With a gold bullion cap line.

Rating Definition:

Very good, the exterior shows some cracks, wrinkles and dents with some minor wear. The gilt components have aged with a dark patina in the protected areas. The chin chain has been lengthened with dissimilar links and has a number of bent rings. The lining has some staining.
