Description:

The consignor's notes indicate that this rifle was produced by George Fay of Huntington County, P.A. Fay was active in the late 19th century which is fitting given the four mid-19th century "Seated Liberty" dimes inlaid on the left side of the stock. The rifle has an unclear set of initials on the barrel which is equipped with blade front and notch rear sights. It has double set triggers. The lock plate has some light engraving designs. It is fitted on a full length maple stock with brass furniture including an ornate patch box on the right and a smaller round patch box on the left side behind the slightly raised cheek rest.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The barrel, lock, and trigger guard display a mostly even brown with pitting at the breech. The brass has a dark aged patina. The stock is fine with attractive stripe patterns and some corrosion and repairs around the lock, and various scrapes and dings overall. The action needs some work.
