This is a good example of a scarce short barreled Colt Model 1877 DA ejector less "storekeepers" revolver. This scarce revolver is accompanied by a Colt factory letter dated Oct 1996, identifying the configuration of this revolver and showing it as being sipped to Simmons Hardware Company, St. Louis Missouri, June 1879 in a 25 gun shipment. The barrel has been subsequently shortened to its current length (2 5/8th inch). The top of the barrel has standard Colt two-line markings of "COLTS' PT. F.A. MFG. Co./HARTFORD. CT. U.S.A.", that extend from the front of the frame to the rear of the front sight. The left side has the always desirable etched barrel panel markings of "COLT D.A.38". The left side of the frame has the standard Colt three line patent dates, with the caliber markings "38 CAL" on the rear of the left trigger guard bow. The pistol has been fully nickel plated and it is fitted with a set of checkered hard rubber grips with the Rampant Colt in an oval at the top of each grip. It is correctly marked with the matching serial numbers on the frame, trigger guard, back strap and cylinder. The loading gate is stamped with assembly number, 262.

Very good as modified with 60% of the factory nickel plated finish on the balance with even honest wear and finish loss overall, with more of the finish loss on the cylinder. The action screws and cylinder pin retain 50% of their nitre blue finish. The grips are in very fine condition overall with sharp Colt markings on each side with distinct checkering showing minor handling marks. A very nice looking short barreled storekeepers model Colt 1877 DA revolver.
