This is an example of a very late 1940 production series one, "P" code commercial Krieghoff Luger pistol with one matching magazine. These Lugers were a continuation of the early 1940 contract that were actually a very late pistol manufactured at the end of commercial production in late 1940. These are noted and described on pages 220 and 221 of the book "The Krieghoff Parabellum" by Gibson and this specific luger is pictured on page 226. It is estimated that approximately 200 of this series were manufactured. This specific pistol has the blank chamber area and blank toggle with only a commercial vertical "Eagle/N" proofmark on the left frame rail and under side of the barrel with NO rejection star on the right side. This pistol has the high polish Krieghoff blue finish with the straw colored smaller parts and is fitted with the earlier commercial brown plastic grips with the fine checkering and smooth border. This pistol is accompanied with two original magazines; one matching magazine that has the nickel plated magazine body with the aluminum base serial number "1156" and the other one numbered "1157". This pistol is complete with a 1936 dated black leather holster marked Kern Klager & CIE/1936/BERLIN, with no takedown tool.

Excellent with 98% of the bright original blue finish overall with just a hint of wear on the edges of the front frame rails with a slightly heavier scratch on the front underside of the barrel. The smaller parts retain 95% of their original straw colors overall. The grips are also in excellent condition. The holster is in very good condition overall with clear distinct markings on the back side with tight stitching and original belt loops. The front of the holster has been dyed/black polished and now shows a dark black front. An excellent early 1936 Krieghoff Luger pistol.
