Description:

Produced by an unknown smith, this is a precise copy of the DWM American Eagle Model 1902 Luger pistol; originally conceived and built in the 1970s, miniatures of this type start from the ground-up, first with the production of a full set of scaled-down blueprints, then the fabrication of scale models of the original tooling, and only then is the pistol made. As a result, the level of detail is amazing, right down to the specific polishing method used on the lower safety position, the fire-blued front sight and the faint outline of the toggle lock hardware on the right frame rail. Overall markings and features are all proper for a 1902 with a fast-taper barrel, with the addition of a "1/5" scale marking on the trigger guard and a 4 5/8 inch overall length. Included with the pistol is a green felt lined black leatherette case, which is French-cut for the pistol and the following included accessories: an un-numbered spare magazine, sixteen 1/5th scale centerfire cartridges, and a brass-bodied multifunction screwdriver and barrel brush. Also included is an extra primed case, a pack of Nobel-brand 2mm primers, and a set of 3 printed miniature "Pistolepatronen 08" cartridge boxes.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, with 98% plus original blue finish, showing a few light handling marks overall. These handling marks, including a thin line beneath the safety switch and some contact wear at the points where the toggle discs meet the frame during cycling, are exactly what you would find on a full-sized 1902, making them a testament to the artist's skill. The grips are excellent with a tiny dot of verdigris on the left panel. The case is excellent, with some contact wear. Mechanically excellent.
