Description:

This is an excellent restored example of an, unaltered DWM Model 1906 First Issue Navy issue Luger pistol. These first issue pistols are very scarce as few were produced with many of the them reworked to the 2nd issue safety markings and/or further reworked to a 4 inch barrel configuration after WWI to comply with the Versailles Treaty. It is estimated that approximately 2500 total commercial Lugers were actually manufactured prior to WWI. It has the characteristic six-inch Navy barrel, with the two-position (100 and 200 meter) Navy rear sight, grip safety, stock lug, with the noted 1st issue "GESICHERT" safety markings in the lower position. The top of the chamber is blank and the front toggle has the correct "DWM" markings. There is a single "Crown/M" proof on the underside of the barrel with no other military or commercial proofs. It is correctly numbered in the commercial manner with the full serial number on the front of the frame and the underside of the barrel with the last two digits (53) stamped on the trigger, side plate, take down lever, breech block, toggle assembly and grips. It is complete with one original nickel plated commercial magazine with wooden base that is stamped "Cal 9 m/m" length wise on the base.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as professionally restored with 98% of the blue finish overall with a hint of edge wear overall. The various small parts retain 25% of their straw colors overall. The walnut grips are in excellent condition with nice sharp distinct checkering on both sides. A very nice looking high condition DWM Model 1906 First issue Navy Luger pistol.
