Description:

This was the first year that the Mauser factory stopped using the secret wartime date codes (K and G) and actually dated the Luger pistol. This one is marked with the full "1936" date over the chamber area with the front toggle marked "S/42". The barrel extension and barrel have the early "Eagle/63" and "droop wing eagle" firing proofs with the same proof on the breechblock. It has the standard military style serial number placement with the full number (2535) on the frame, barrel and barrel extension and the last two digits on the various small parts. It has the early rust blued finish overall with the straw colored small parts. The extractor safety is properly marked, and it has checkered walnut grips. It has an early magazine with the nickel plated magazine body and aluminum base which is correctly stamped "2535/k/+/Eagle/63".

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 98% of the blue finish with a hint of edge and high spot wear overall. 85% of the original straw colors remain. The grips are excellent with nice distinct sharp checking overall, and a darker color on both sides. This early Luger has all matching numbers except the grips and firing pin, both of which are unnumbered. Mechanically excellent.
