This is one of the finest examples of the very desirable DWM Model 1902 "American Eagle" Luger pistol. These early 1902 Lugers are extremely rare in their original fat barrel configuration as only 600-700 were ever produced in total for commercial sales in the United States. This model was a continuation of the earlier 1902 commercial Luger, however, these were specifically intended for the U.S. market as indicated by the presence of the "American Eagle" Crest. This pistol has the short old style frame with leaf springs and no stock lug, recessed breechblock, dished toggles with toggle lock and grip safety. The barrel extension is also the short old model with the top of the chamber area roll marked with the prominent "American Eagle" crest and the front toggle correctly marked with the "DWM" logo. These are serial numbered in the commercial manner with the full serial number (22393) on the front of the frame and underside of the barrel and the partial serial number "93" stamped on the various small parts. Inside the front frame recess and underside of the barrel extension, there is the typical small circled triangle proof. This example has the correct unmarked, polished lower safety area with the correct bright polished (straw colored) flat, old style extractor. This Luger is complete with three nickel plated magazines with the correct original wooden base with all three marked "Cal/9 mm" length wise on the base. It is complete with an original black leather covered Luger display case with the purple interior lining, an original Remington/UMC (full box) of 9 mm Luger ammunition and an Stoeger Arms Luger manual titled: "The Parabellum Automatic Pistol". This 1902 American Eagle is new to the collector market and is now selling for the first time at public auction.

Excellent with 98% plus of the original blue finish and 99% of the old restrawed colors on the small parts. The wood grips area also in excellent condition with a nice dark walnut color overall and sharp checkering on both sides. The case is also in excellent condition with a very nice all intact interior felt lining and an exceptionally nice all black leatherette exterior. This is just a superb example of a very high condition early DWM Model 1902 American Eagle Fat Barreled Luger pistol with the black display case.
