This is an excellent example of a very scarce late production DWM Model 1908 Commercial Luger. These Lugers were all manufactured in the standard 1908 Commercial serial number range that were used for standard commercial contract with small groups manufactured and proofed for military tests in the 1908-10 time frame. These military test Lugers generally fall into the serial number range of "69400-70,100" with this being a late example numbered "70907". It is estimated that approximately 500-600 in total were manufactured for these tests. This example has the blank chamber area with the standard DWM logo on the front toggle. The right side of the barrel has the standard military proofs that consist of three "Crown/X" proofs and one Imperial Eagle firing proof. This example is also correctly fitted with a magazine hold-open device. It is correctly numbered in the commercial fashion with the full serial number (70907) on the frame and underside of the barrel with the last two digits (07) on the breech block, toggle assembly, side plate, trigger and takedown lever. It is complete with a correct nickel plated magazine with a wooden base stamped: "70907/+".

Excellent with 97% plus of its blued finish overall with a hint of wear on the front of the frame rails and edge of the muzzle. The various small parts retain 70% of their straw colors overall. The walnut grips are in excellent condition with nice sharp distinct checking on both sides and only a small dings/pressure dent n the center of the left grip. A very nice looking, rare early DWM Model 1908 Commercial Test luger.
