A note taped to the buttstock describes the rifle as having been captured on Guadalcanal (no other documentation available). 2) Japanese "meatball" flag with a red printed sun on white cloth 33 inches by 26 inches with untranslated black ink markings and a small waterproof pouch. 3) Japanese sword 36 1/4 inches overall with a 25 1/4 inch blade with a straight hamon, silver-finished copper habaki, round copper tsuba with gold washed decoration, brown cord wrap, and a black and white lacquer finished saya. Some faint paint markings are present on the tang.

Rating Definition:

1) Good as assembled with traces of the blue finish but showing mostly areas of brown patina and light spotting. The bolt is a replacement. Stock is good with evidence of active use and scattered chips and dents. Mechanically very good. 2) Good with mild staining and edge wear. 3) Very good with some light scratches and edge nicks on the otherwise fine blade, a strong hamon, minor cord repairs, some absent seppa and notable handling wear.
