This is a World War II Japanese Type 2 Paratrooper rifle manufactured by the Nagoya arsenal. The top of the receiver has a partial chrysanthemum intact with the Kana markings for "Type 2". The rifle has matching assembly numbers (442) on the left and right side of the barrel takedown mechanism. The left side of the receiver is marked with the serial number "8218" and the Nagoya Arsenal factory mark. The bolt body and extractor are numbered "218". It has the later production tangent rear sight graduated to 1,500 meters with thin anti-aircraft wings, peep sight, and an inverted "V" front with guards. It has a two piece stock with a cupped buttplate and side mounted sling swivels. The front barrel band has two screws and the rear has a slot in the top. The takedown hardware is matching on the side plates. The bolt handle is the correct plum shaped version. It has the standard late war hardwood stock with the large drain hole on the bottom rear of the barrel section. The floor plate has had the words "FISHER/FWF/" scratched into it. Includes a bayonet not numbered to the rifle with a steel sheath and a leather sling.

Rating Definition:

Very fine (mum ground) with 90% of the original blue finish. Displaying areas of edge wear and light scratches. The wood is very fine with nice grain and color displaying scattered light to moderate handling marks and pressure indentations throughout. Mechanically excellent. Sling is good. Bayonet is fair.
