Description:

This is a very fine example of a very rare DWM Model 1900 Serbian (Pre- Yugoslavian) commercial contract Luger pistol. This one of 3 or 4 know to exist in the world today. This serial number range of these specific pistol model falls into the group of Lugers that are considered as mid-production 1900 commercial contracts before the DWM factory was able to secure any of the later 1902 military contracts when they were trying to secure any commercial contracts in Europe to help foster/maintain their production. The chamber area has the large "Serbian Crest" (pre-Yugoslavian) with the standard "DWM" logo on the front toggle. This rare Luger does not have any firing or acceptance proofs nor is it marked with any export (GERMANY) markings, which helps to support the theory that it is indeed a early "Serbian" commercial sales sample. It has all the early desirable Luger features such as: dished toggles with toggle lock on the right side, recessed breechblock, 4 3/4 inch fast tapered barrel, grip safety and no stock lug. It has the correct commercial serial numbering sequence with the full serial number (14561) on the barrel and frame with the last two digits (61) on the various smaller parts. The Model 1900 Luger pistol was the true first commercial contract Luger pistol produced by DWM and can be found in the 2000-19000 serial number range. The serial number of this specific Luger (14561) falls in line with the other Serbian Contract Lugers that have been documented/noted on the collector market. These early Luger had a beautiful hand polished blue finish with straw colored small parts. It has all matching numbers to include the grips. It is complete with a single magazine that has a polished steel magazine body with a unmarked/unnumbered wooden base.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 90% slightly faded original blue with only edge and high spot wear overall, with some blue loss on the side plate hump frame rails with thinning on the back strap and grip safety. The grips are also in very fine condition with nice sharp, distinct checkering on both sides mixed with some handling marks, more on the left side, with a small chip out of the lower left corner of the grip. This is a very rare, Serbian sales sample Luger.
