Description:

This is an example of a Mauser manufactured, Persian contract Artillery Luger rig that was manufactured circa 1935/36. There were a total of 2,000 Lugers manufactured under this contract; 1,000 each 4-inch barreled models and 1,000 each, 8 inch Artillery models. The Artillery model was an exact duplicate of the WWI German Artillery Luger except all the markings and numbering are in Farsi. The chamber area of the pistol is marked with the Persian Crest with the front toggle also marked in Farsi for the Mauser factory. The left side of the barrel extension is marked in Farsi and the left side is marked with the Mauser Crown over "U" commercial proofmark. The full serial, 3003 (marked in Farsi) is marked on the front of the frame and the left side of the barrel extension, with the last two digits of the Farsi serial number (03) marked on each part. This Luger is complete with one matching and one non-matching spare magazine; both correctly marked in Farsi. This desirable Artillery Luger pistol is complete with an original non-matching Persian contract walnut board shoulder stock, that is attached to an original unmarked Persian contract brown leather holster that has a set of matching brown leather shoulder straps. It is also complete with an original Persian double magazine leather pouch, leather stock boot and cleaning rod. The stock as noted is an original Persian contract stock that is correctly stamped with the serial number in Farsi on the side of the stock directly behind the attaching iron release lever. The pistol has the standard blue finish with straw colored small components and checkered walnut grips.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as partially refinished (cold blue on muzzle and side plate) with balance of retaining 90% of the original blue finish overall with only minor edge and high spot wear. Thinning and wear on the lower rear grip strap. The various smaller parts retain 20% of their straw colors overall. The walnut grips are also in excellent condition with nice distinct checkering on both sides, showing some minor staining with just very light wear across the tops of the checkering. The stock is in very fine plus condition with 98% blue on the attaching iron showing only minor handling marks, light scratches and dents on the wooden stock itself. The holster is in very good condition with a nice matching darker brown color on the holster, straps and boot, all showing minor scratches and wear from actual use with all the stitching intact. A very nice looking, complete Persian contract artillery rig.
