Description:

This is a very nice example of a early post-WWI Weimar era military Luger pistol as manufactured by the Simson and Co., in Suhl Germany. This pistol has the early undated chamber area with the standard Simson & Co./Suhl marked front toggle. These were originally WWI Military Lugers that were reworked by the Simson Company in the 1921-1925 time frame, for issue under the Weimar regime These Simson Lugers are very unique in that exhibit the small Simson Eagle rework proofs on almost all of various parts to include the grip screws. It has the standard military style serial number placement with the full serial number (88a) on the frame with number (88) on the various smaller parts. The right side of the barrel extension is marked with two small "Eagle 6" Simson proofs, a single "Eagle/81" proof, along with a double Eagle/67 proof and a single Eagle firing proof. The top, left side of the barrel is stamped with a small single "Eagle 6" proof along with the final Simson Eagle firing proof. It has the standard safety and extractor markings along with the standard checkered walnut grips. This desirable Luger is complete with four early, unmarked, nickel plated magazines with the aluminum bases. The bases are each stamped with a single "Eagle/6" proof over serial number "88", with either a; "1, 2, 3 or 4" stamped on it denoting the issue number of magazine. It is complete with an early all brown leather holster, that is marked "JULIUS JANSEN/STRASSBURG/19xx" with the front of the holster stamped with: "L.Z.A./K. Karlsruhe", an unmarked brown leather belt with a German Army belt buckle. It is complete with an early Mauser "Eagle/63" proofed takedown tool.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 99% of its arsenal refurbished rust blued finish overall with only minor edge and high spot wear. The smaller parts also retain 98% of their straw colors. The grips are also in excellent condition with nice distinct checkering on both sides. The holster is also in near excellent condition with a nice dark brown color overall with tight stitching overall (except for the take down tool pouch which has come loose) with some minor staining on the front of the holster, with clear markings inside the holster. The belt is also in good condition with intact leather with a slightly weathered face on the leather. This is an exceptionally nice all complete and all matching early Simson Luger rig.
