Description:

This is a very rare Walther Model KPK prototype pistol. A similar example is found in the books: "Walther Engraved, Presentation and Standard Models" Vol II, 110-111; and again on page 130 of Volume III. Production of these pistols was probably in the 1940-42 time frame with only a handful even know to exist today in the most advanced Walther collections. This ultra-rare pistol was manufactured with a duraluminum frame so that it is very light weight with a standard steel slide that actuality has been lengthened approximately 3/8 of an inch, giving the pistol an almost hammerless appearance. Additionally Walther eliminated the traditional safety/decocker lever on the slide so that it has a very slim/narrow profile making it easy to conceal in your pocket. Both of these are simple engineering design change which could have been easily incorporated into production had the war not ended. The pistol functions in both the single and double action mode. Of the 5-6 pistols that are actually know to exist most are unnumbered however this example has a very high serial number (500334). It is marked on the left side of the slide with, "Walther" inside a banner and "KPK" markings. The pistol does not have any proof or acceptance marks and the frame exhibits some slightly rougher machined area which may indicate that it was actually a early tool room or preproduction pistol. The pistol does not have any firing or acceptance proofs anywhere. The magazine is a unmarked standard wartime version that is completely in the white that has a large aluminum extended finger rest base. The barrel and duraluminum frame are still in their original Walther factory in the white finish with the slide having a blued Walther finish. The various small parts have their traditional all blue finish, indicating those were just pulled from regular commercial production. This rare pistol comes with two sets of Walther Party Leader mottled brown plastic grips. The sides of the grips has the large Nazi Eagle Clutching the Swastika on each side. This is probably one of the rarest World War II Nazi Walther 32 Auto pistols in existence.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 98% of the original blue finish on the slide with the frame and barrel still in the white factory finish as noted above. The set of grips on the pistol are excellent with nice sharp markings and detail overall while the spare set are in very good condition overall with minor handling mark on the right side with a stress crack down the center the back side and a small chip on the upper left edge. A totally fresh, newly found prototype Walter pistol!
