Description:

This is a very nice example of a early WWII M1 Carbine as produced by the Inland Division of General Motors that has been fitted with the M1A1 Paratrooper carbine folding stock. The receiver ring is marked: "US CARBINE/CAL 30 M1" and on the rear "INLAND DIV." over the serial number. The barrel is marked "INLAND MFG. DIV./GENERAL MOTORS/5-43". The folding stock has the metal hinged buttplate with the cast in part number and leather cheek piece. The upper handguard, low wood stock and pistol grip are made of walnut with the pistol grip restamped with a "IO/Cross Cannons" cartouche on the underside of the grip. The rear of the stock is stamped with a single circled "P" proof. It has the early type II barrel band, flat blued bolt, early smooth push button safety, two rivet handguard and a two position, flip rear sight. It is complete with one magazine and a green GI style web type unmarked sling.

Rating Definition:

Very good overall with 95% of the parkerized finish with wear on the bolt body and right side receiver rail. The refurbished, assembled stock and handguard are replacements and are in fine condition and have a nice, matching dark red color. The very rear of the stock, below the upper stock hardware, has split through the center. The metal has a nice parkerized finish and it has replacement leather and steel rivets. Mechanically excellent.
