Description:

Manufactured from 1899 to 1902 with a total production of approximately 20,975. Equipped with a half moon front sight and frame notch rear sight. Smooth trigger and checkered hammer are both casehardened and the frame bears a large S&W logo on the right side. The top of the barrel is marked with the two-line address/patent dates, the left side of the barrel is marked "+S & W 38 MIL+". The butt is marked "U.S. / ARMY / MODEL / 1899". The yoke is stamped with the assembly number "19699". The left side of the frame at the rear is marked with a small "K.S.M.", the same marking appears on the rear of the cylinder, bottom of the barrel. The grips are checkered walnut with "J.T.T. 1901" stamped on the left and "K.S.M." again on the right.

Rating Definition:

Fine with 55% of the original factory high polished blue finish displaying an area on the barrel that has aged to a thin brown/gray patina. Displaying areas of edge wear, some surface scratches and light pitting. The grips are very good with pressure indentations, and clear markings. Mechanically excellent. The knurled end of the ejector rod is absent.
