Description:

Measuring 42 inches overall, the 36 inch curved single fuller blade is marked on the spine with the Chatellerault address and 1836 production date. The hilt is brass construction, with "594" stamped on the 2-branch guard, a leather pad on the counter guard, and a wire wrapped leather grip. With an iron scabbard, marked "498" on the upper suspension band and "6" on the drag. This saber is nearly identical to the U.S. Model 1840 saber.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The blade has been cleaned and sharpened, with a number of dings on the edge and spine (particularly on the middle third) and some light spotting. The brass shows a fine aged patina overall, with some dings and a small amount of play in the wire. Sheath is fair, with brown spotting overall, comparable to the rest of the sword in age.
