Manufactured 1906 and 1907. An improved and lightened version of the Model 1898. The left side of the receiver is engraved with ducks in flight in a marsh scene surrounded by scroll designs, the bolt has two pigeons in flight and the right side of the receiver has scroll designs with a scallop border. The left rear of the barrel is marked with the two line address/patent dates followed by "12. GA.". The serial number is on the bottom of the receiver in a panel amid a floral design. Blue finish, and mounted with a nicely figured multi point checkered walnut forearm and pistol grip stock with a serrated horn buttplate. Choked full and 13 5/8 inch length of pull. It is known that Alden George Ulrich apprenticed under is father Conrad at the age of 17 and was an engraver for Marlin from 1905 to 1919.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The barrel and forward portion of the magazine tube retain most of the original finish which is beginning to darken. The rear portion of the magazine tube has been cleaned and is a smooth silver gray. The receiver has a smooth gray patina with traces of original blue finish in protected areas. The wood is good overall with moderate wear on the forearm checkering and heavy on the stock wrist. Most of the original varnish remains with most of the loss on the right side of the stock. The engraving and markings are clear. The action is fine.
