Introduced in 1976, the Model 23 was manufactured in Japan. This example is marked as "ONE OF 500" on the lower tang and with "MODEL XXIII -WINCHESTER CUSTOM 2 BARREL HUNTING SET" followed by the chamber information on the left barrel of both the 20 and 28 gauge barrel sets. The serial number "WBS118E" is marked on the action under the break lever. The 20 gauge set has a golden "1" at the breech end of the rib and is numbered "118/1" on the underside of the right barrel. The 28 gauge set is correspondingly numbered "2" on top and "118/2" on the bottom. Both barrel sets have white bead front and mid sights on the textured ribs and numbers matching beavertail forearms with nice checkering patterns. The frame is scroll engraved with a golden bird on each side and a golden dog is carrying a third on the bottom. It also has a gold finished single trigger, selective tang safety, and a checkered walnut pistol stock with an engraved steel grip cap, unmarked inscription panel, black spacer, and a vented Pachmayr recoil pad. The length of pull is 15 1/2 inches. The 20 gauge barrels have 2 3/4 and 3 inch chambers with ejectors and are choked modified and improved modified. The 28 gauge barrels have 2 3/4 inch chambers with ejectors and are choked improved modified and improved cylinder. The set comes in a leather luggage-style takedown case with red velvet interior which also contains an oiler and two snap caps in each gauge.

Excellent. There are only light handling and storage type marks overall. The case is very good with some stains and marks on the exterior.
