This is a rare example of a nickel plated Colt Buntline Revolver. Known by the model number P-1911, these nickel plated Colt Buntline revolvers are chambered for the 44-40 cartridge, have 12" barrels, and occur in the SA68600 serial number range. Production ran from 1984 to 1985 with a total of 193 produced (see Don Wilkerson's "The Post-War Colt Single Action Revolver 1976-1986" pages 100-101). The revolver has the one line Hartford barrel address with "COLT BUNTLINE SPECIAL 44-40" on the left side. The left side of the frame has the three line, three date patent marking. Fitted with smooth two piece grips. The accompanying factory letter verifies the caliber, barrel length, nickel finish, grips with no medallions and that it was shipped as one on Colt Custom Shop Order number 2885 to Aeromarine in Birmingham, Alabama, on December 20, 1984.

Excellent. The revolver retains 99% plus original nickel finish. The cylinder and a small portion of the right rear barrel show some staining/discoloration in the finish from storage. Overall there are a few light handling/storage marks. The grips are excellent with very attractive grain. The markings are sharp. The action is excellent.
