Description:

Manufactured between 1863 and 1865, approximately 32,000 Model 1863 revolvers were manufactured by Starr with 25,000 purchased by the U.S. Government. The remainder were commercial sales, and this example being a civilian specimen. The left side of the frame is marked with the one-line address, and the right side has the one-line patent date. The letter "B" is marked on the barrel and trigger guard. The matching serial number is marked on the front of the frame, barrel underside, on the cylinder and in the hammer cut out. Dovetailed blade front and hammer notch rear sights, blue finish with casehardened hammer and loading lever, and fitted with a smooth one-piece walnut grip.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The revolver retains 80% plus original blue finish with a smooth gray patina on the balance, mainly on the grip straps and barrel due to holster wear. The loading lever and hammer retain 75% original case colors. The grip is very fine with some high edge wear and some scattered minor handling marks. Mechanically fine.
