Winchester Model 1866 Fourth Model Rifle manufactured in 1882. The rifle has a full length magazine under a round barrel equipped with a German silver blade front sight and adjustable sporting style rear sights. The top of the barrel is marked with the two line Winchester address and King's improvement patent information. The serial number is marked on the lower tang behind the loading lever latch. The rifle has the distinctive brass receiver with flares at the junction with the walnut forend and a straight wrist walnut stock fitted with a steel buttplate with brass trapdoor compartment containing the takedown cleaning rod.

Very good plus. The iron surfaces have a mottled gray patina with spotting and light pitting, and the exceptionally fine frame displays a golden aged patina with some minor marks and scratches. The wood is fine with a number of scrapes and marks and white residue. The action is fine, and the markings are mostly clear. This Model 1866 is well above average in condition and scarcity!
