Description:

This model was the first rifle Marlin designed for smokeless powder cartridges. It features a pinned bead front sight and adjustable rear sporting sight. The top of the barrel is marked with the two line address over "SPECIAL SMOKELESS STEEL". The caliber is marked near the breech. The top of the receiver is marked " MARLIN SAFETY". The upper tang is marked "Marlin / MODEL 93". The lower tang is marked with the serial number. It has a casehardened action and lever, and the remaining metal surfaces are blue. It is mounted with a smooth forearm and straight grip stock with a "bullseye" insert on the bottom of the butt and a checkered Marlin buttplate. The shotgun butt, no saddle ring and two thirds length magazine all are unique features and were special order only. This example was likely produced in the 1920s given the low serial number and "Marlin Firearms Corporation" barrel marking.

Rating Definition:

Fine. 90% plus of the original blue finish remains on the barrel and three-quarter length magazine tube. The frame and lever retain 40% of the original case colors with some areas silvered out and some light spotting. The wood is very fine with some small dings and slight chips. The action is excellent, and the markings are crisp.
