Description:

Manufactured very early in the 1870-1872 production range, this revolver features blade front and notch rear sights, vent hole on the bottom of the extractor housing, the one line address and patent dates on top of the barrel, casehardened hammer and trigger guard, and a pair of smooth walnut grips on the square butt frame. The full serial number, "147", is visible on the butt, barrel and barrel catch. The underside of the right grip panel is numbered "22002". This model was the first top break, automatic ejecting revolver that Smith & Wesson produced and was also their first large caliber revolver.

Rating Definition:

Very good as refinished. The revolver retains a third of the dull blue finish with brown and gray patina on the balance, with some overall light scratches, marks and light pitting. The grips are very good with a few light scratches and dings. The markings overall are crisp. The action functions, but the ejector needs some attention.
