It has brass furniture including a double front band with integral blade front sight. The action and barrel are armory bright. The straight grip stock is oil finished black walnut and is fitted with a long sling bar and ring on the left. The Model 1847 Cavalry Musketoon was the primary long arm of the 1st and 2nd Dragoon Regiments after the Mexican War and many saw use in the Civil War.

Rating Definition:

Good. The barrel and lock are bright polish with some spots of varnish staining, light scratches, and light pitting. The brass furniture has an attractive aged patina. The stock is also good with a crack in the butt, numerous minor pressure marks and scrapes, and some minor chips. The action is fine, and the visible markings remain clear.
