Description:

Manufactured in 1906, this revolver is accompanied by a Colt factory letter dated June 1991 that confirms the configuration including the markings. It was "1 of 12" revolvers shipped to: "William Read and Sons" Boston, Ma. The letter indicates that the markings were factory rolled, but they are actually nicely engraved in early English script pattern and read "AM. EXP. CO. 1865". Standard barrel and frame markings. The revolver has the high polish blued finish, casehardened frame with the niter blued screws, hammer and trigger. Matching serial number on the frame, trigger guard and back strap with the cylinder unnumbered. The loading gate is assembly number "23". The left rear side of the left trigger guard bow is marked with the Colt "VP" proof along with a letter "T" on the rear. Lot also includes two original American Express document stamps. Each one has a basic "American Express Co." type markings at the top and bottom of each of the stamps with the center marked respectively with "WABAUNSEE KANS" and "CIRCLEVILLE KANS". They have a brass stamp with a nickel plated handle.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as partially restored (back strap re-engraved with "AM. EXP. CO markings) with 75% of the blue finish with edge and high spot wear with most of the blue loss on the refinished back strap where the markings are located and the ejector housing. The frame retains 30% of the original case colors with more colors present in the protected areas. The grips are in very good condition with nice distinct Colt markings and checkering overall.
