Manufactured circa 1956-1957. This revolver features a serrated ramp front sight with orange insert and a fully adjustable rear notch sight. Wide casehardened checkered hammer and wide casehardened serrated trigger. The serial number is stamped on the butt and inside of the yoke cutout. Fitted with a pair of checkered Goncalo Alves grips with silver S&W medallions. The accompanying factory letter gives a history of the Pre-Model 29 revolver and verifies the serial number, the 4 screw configuration, 44 Remington Magnum caliber, 6 1/2 inch barrel, blue finish, checkered Goncalo Alves target grips and that it was shipped to Kunkel's Inc. in Davenport, IA on February 3, 1958. Complete with Smith & Wesson leatherette case, screwdriver, cleaning brush and cleaning rod.

Excellent with 99% of the original blue finish with a few minor scratches overall and a cylinder drag line. The grips are excellent with crisp checkering. The case is fair with some scratches and scuff marks and one hole in the blue lining. Mechanically excellent.
