Description:

Manufactured for commercial sale circa 1900-01, this example bears the "GERMANY" stamp applied to pistols shipped to the United States. Beaded blade front and notch rear sights, a scarce blank chamber top (most 1900's had either an American Eagle or Swiss Cross) and the "DWM" monogram on the front toggle. The underside of the fast-taper barrel has the crowned "B", "G", and "U" proofs over "172,28" and the serial number. The "B" and "U" are repeated on the left side of the extension and front toggle, "B" on the breech, and "commercial style" external numbering. Equipped with a recessed breechblock, dished toggles with integral lock, early style flat checkered safety switch with bright polished lower position, magazine hold-open, straw finished small parts, niter blue screws and pins, half-width grip safety, smooth back strap, checkered walnut grips and a nickel finished magazine with an unmarked walnut base. Includes a russet leather flap holster marked "F.R. GYGAX/1927/HERZ. BUSCHE" on the back between the belt loops with shoulder straps and one extra Swiss marked magazine.

Rating Definition:

Fine with 40% of the original rust blue finish and 30% of the original straw finish on the small parts. Barrel and frame display areas of brown spotting, light pitting, edge wear, and areas of thinned finish and gray patina. The grips are very good with well defined though somewhat rounded checkering, moderate handling marks, and some pressure indentations. Mechanically excellent. Holster is good with verdigris at the metal hardware, light scuffs throughout, supple flexible leather and solid stitching.
