Description:

This is a late Walther PP semi-automatic pistol with the "R.J." engraved front grip strap marking. These pistols have been identified as probably having been issued to the to the "Reich Ministry of the Interior" which ordered weapons and supplies for the NSDAP. This information is noted in the book, "Walther Models PP and PPK Vol I" by, Rankin (pg. 117). The left side of the slide is marked with "Walther" inside a banner followed by the two-line markings of: "Waffenfabrik Walther, Zella Mehlis (Thur) over Walther's Patent 7.65m/m, MOD PP". The right side of the pistol has the early pre-war "Crown/ N" commercial proof on the frame, slide and muzzle end of the barrel. The right side of the frame is marked with the "P" suffix serial number with the matching "678" etched/inscribed inside the slide. It has early 60 degree safety with the fixed sights and is fitted with black plastic grip marked with a "Walther Banner" on each side. It is complete with two Walther Banner marked magazines; one with the black finger base and the other with the standard flat base.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 95% of the blue finish overall with only minor edge and high spot wear and slight thinning/oxidation on the lower edges of the grip straps. The grips are in excellent condition with nice distinct checkering and no visible handling marks. Mechanically excellent. A very nice example of a scarce "R.J." marked Walther PP pistol.
