Description:

This is a beautiful WWII Walther (ac/44 code) K43 sniper rifle that has been fitted with an ultra rare experimental ZKF43/1 RLN coded sniper scope and mount. These rare scope were produced in late 1944 early 1945 by the Carl Zeiss company in Jena as an improvement over the standard ZF4 scope. It is marked on top of the elevation knob: "zln/908899", with the windage knob marked on top: "Seite/1 Teil=2.5 cm/auf 100 m". The ZFK43/ scope was a zinc alloy casting which was a total departure from the previous ZFK model, which as noted in Darrin Weavers book, featured the reticle etched directly onto the optical glass. Weaver has recorded two other serial numbers in his book on the G-43, the lowest being 908808, the other being the highest; 908899, which is this specific scope. It also featured a redesigned windage and elevation knob with a smooth turning knobs that have a special pointer/clicker on the scope tube to specifically indicate the exact range and or windage adjustments, which provided a far more precise adjustment system than previous models. It is believed that approximately 100 of these scope were actually produced with very few actually having survived the war. Note this scope (908899) is pictured on page 254 of the book "Hitlers Garands" by Weaver. The scope is mounted in an original rough cast, ZF4/K43 scope mount correctly proofed on the side with a single "Eagle/359" Waffenamt proof mark that is numbered "6612" on the front end. The rifle itself is actually a late production ac/44 coded Walther K43 rifle is marked on the left side of the receiver with a single "Eagle/359" Waffenamt proof and "K 43/ ac/44 /7093 o". It has all the late war features such as late bolt carrier with the hollow cocking knob, and no locking latch that is marked "45" on top. It has the late stamped, action cover and sliding dust cover. It has the standard hooded blade front sight and the military tangent rear sight graduated to 1,200 meters. The blued magazine is marked "aye", "WaA843" and "K43" on the left side. It has a correct wartime laminated G-43 stock and hand guard with the steel buttplate with buttstock compartment. The left side of the buttstock and in the pistol grip area is a single "Eagle/359" Waffenamt proof along with a slightly larger "Eagle" Waffenamt proof on the underside of the stock. It is complete with a cleaning rod with slotted head and a sheet metal front sight cover.

Rating Definition:

Excellent overall with 98% of the wartime phosphate/blued finish on the rifle itself showing only minor edge wear. The stock and handguard are also both in excellent condition with a nice dark brown matching color overall showing all the late war rough turning/machining marks, with visible proofs. The scope, scope mount and locking lever are all in excellent condition with 98% of its original blue and phosphate wartime finish with just some minor edge wear. The windage and elevation knobs all work correctly and the optics themselves are clear with some minor specs inside the scope itself. The rifle itself has all matching numbers on the various parts, however as noted the scope mount does not match this rifle. Still a very rare late war K43 sniper rifle with the ultra rare ZFK4312 sniper scope.
