Description:

Established in 1867, AGFA (Actien Gesellschaft Fur Anilin-Fabrikation) was chiefly a wartime producer of film and cameras as a subsidiary of Bayer and I.G. Farben. The exact time AGFA entered scope production is unknown, but presumed to be before the end of 1944, with only 5000 in estimated total production. External features are standard, with the left side of the rectangular body marked "GwZF4/5993/bxx.(triangle)", a leather and wood lens cover set, rubber eye piece and a metal rail mount numbered "3690" and stamped "eagle/359" (Walther). Also included with the scope is a scarce late-war belt case, rectangular construction with pressed board panels and hardwood sides, dovetailed and screwed together, with metal hanging rings, a spring-loaded closure, and a canvas belt loop.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, with light handling marks on the scope, edge wear on the mount, and a few scuffs and cracks on the leather. The case is good, with some mild chipping and scuffing of the paint. The case interior is excellent with a clear proof, including the smaller and more fragile components. Optics are excellent.
