Description:

This is a very fine example of an late production Model 1928 Thompson submachine gun that was manufactured by the Savage Arms Company under license from the Auto-Ordnance Company. This weapon was originally manufactured as a 1928 SMG, that still retains its early parts with a matching lower trigger housing. It has the easily recognized short 10 1/2 inch barrel, with the cooling fins, which has been fitted with a "CUTTS" marked Thompson/Auto-Ordnance patented compensator on the end, the early vertical forend detachable buttstock and fully adjustable Lyman stamped tangent rear sight. The receiver is marked with "US MODEL OF 1928/NO. S-341044" and farther back "THOMPSON SUBMACHINE GUN/CALIBER .45 AUTOMATIC CARTRIDGE. The obverse is marked in two-lines "AUTO-ORDNANCE CORPORATION, BRIDGEPORT CONNECTICUT USA" The top of the receiver is stamped with the "Auto-Ordnance/Thompson Bullet" logo. The underside of the lower trigger housing is correctly numbered "No.S-341044". The upper right left side of the receiver has the circled "GEG" proofmark. This desirable Thompson SMG is complete with one Auto-Ordnance, Type "L" 50 round drum magazine.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 85% plus of its original matte gray finish overall showing general light wear and use. The exposed section of the barrel also has some wear/rub marks on the underside from where it was resting on something. The wood components; buttstock, pistol grip and foregrip are all in very fine condition with minimal handling marks. As noted it has matching upper and lower trigger housings. This is a really nice Model 1928 Thompson! Note: This item is restricted as a National Firearms Act (NFA), Fully Automatic Weapon that is currently registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco Firearms and Explosives (BATF&E) that has been classified as a "Curios or Relic" as defined in 27 CFR, 478.11. These weapons are still subject to the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
